Spinal Puncture

For diagnosis of neurological conditions and administration of epidural and intrathecal therapies

1

Unpredictable and often challenging anatomy, especially in patients with obesity, scoliosis, surgical history, or degenerative conditions

2

Painful redirections and re-attempts, which are which are done routinely to navigate the needle around bony obstructions

3

Iris-Guided Lumbar Puncture

Dynamic needle guidance enables insertion through more favorable anatomical windows that are not easily accessible using palpation-based techniques.

Ethos is conducting preclinical testing with EM clinicians to evaluate an Iris-guided paramedian technique, with the goal of identifying a significantly safer and more consistently successful method for performing lumbar punctures.
